In addition, for miscellaneous mess expenditures including fuel for cooking, cleaning/washing, and wages for casual workers engaged in cooking, an additional amount of Rs. 353/- per child per month (for 9 months) is also approved.

2. Uniforms (i) Rs. 2400/- per student per annum for JNVs located in temperate climate/coastal areas- Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Odisha, Karnataka, West Bengal, Gujarat, Daman & Diu, Maharashtra, Goa, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Andaman & Nicobar, Puducherry, and Lakshadweep.

(ii) Rs. 3000/- per student per annum for JNVs located in extreme summer and normal winter areas – Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and Chandigarh.

(iii) Rs. 3360/- per student per annum for JNVs located in extreme winter areas – Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttrakhand, North Eastern Region, and Himachal Pradesh.

4. Other expenditures on students include stationery, travel, medical, CBSE fees (i) Medical Expenses @ Rs. 36/- per child per month for 09 months = Rs. 324/-

(ii) Stationery – Rs. 102/- per student per month for 09 months = 918

(iii)  Bedding – Rs. 720/- per student per year

(iv) Doctor Fee:

a)  Honorarium to be paid/Month Rs 20000/ if the distance of JNV is more than 10 Km from the Taluka Hq and more than 25 Km from Dist. Hq (9×20000=1,80,000/-) and in JNVs located in hard and difficult stations

b) In other JNVs it is Rs 6,000pm (9×6000=54000/)

(v) CBSE fees – Actuals

(vi) School Bag for class VI, & IX  students only – Rs. 360/-

(vii) Travel Expenses –@ Rs. 24/- per child per month for 09 months = Rs. 216/- for the local journey.

5. Daily allowance to students during the journey only for participating in various events/ activities outside the JNV. In the case of travel by train, actual rates are charged by IRCTC / Indian Railway for standard meals and breakfast taken, with the upper ceiling of Rs. 300/- per day per student.

Daily allowance in other cases of traveling by train where IRCTC or Indian Railway services are not available and in cases of traveling by other means will remain unchanged i.e. Rs. 150/- per day per student.

Expenses allowed by Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas from VVN

  1. Under Computer Education Programme, I.T. Accessories, educational software and absolutely required hardware can also be procured.
  2. The service of experts can also be utilized by the institution for the promotion of sports, yoga adventure activities, etc.
  3. Expenditure on educational Excursions need not be restricted to migrated students. However, excursions to places of historical importance, and cultural and scientific interest shall be organized for all children.
  4. Expenditure for specialized training on cultural importance like Bharatnatyam, Kuchipudi, and Mohiniyattom. Folk Dance, the SPICMACAY program, Art in Education, etc. can also be met from this fund.
  5. Expenditure on Safety and Security, Health care, providing academic tools, quality improvement activities like providing clean drinking water, hot water facilities, clean toilets with tiles paved on the toilet floor, providing reading room facilities, etc. can also be taken up.

Below mentioned expenditures in JNVS are also allowed to utilize VVN w.e.f. 01-01-2018.

  • Installation of CCTV cameras in the common area.
  • Maintenance of CCTV in the schools.
  • Engaging the services of security personnel by outsourcing at the rate of 2 personnel per school.
  • Engagement of counselors on a part-time basis as per the approved norms.
